The city has a new online crime map system to help keep you informed of the kinds of crimes happening in our neighborhood. Read all about it on the best darn local news for Des Moines, the Waterland Blog: The City of Des Moines Planning Agency will be showing the new Downtown Design Guidelines and Recommendations to the public. This will be from 5 to 7 pm Monday March 22nd at the Activity Center 2045 S. 216th St. I would say that over half of the club meetings I have been to have brought up the issue of off leash dogs. Even our community service officer called it out as the #2 reported problem by North Hill residents. People have also told me that they don’t want to call the police on their neighbors, and at the same time are not willing to confront them about the problem. My hope is that this letter can help you solve the issue with a neighbor. We live in a really great part of the Puget Sound and I would hate to see good people leave because of a problem that could have been addressed. http://www.northhillcc.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/pet_reminder.doc And if you do send your neighbor a copy of this letter I would very much like to know how it goes! This month the Des Moines Historical Society will spend time sharing the history of our city. You can learn more here http://www.dmhs.org/ They have some great pictures! The North Hill Community Club is sponsoring 2 youth sports teams, one this Spring, and one this Fall. This is a great way to help strengthen our community by providing healthy activities for kids to spend their time, while they learn important life skills.
Today 8 boxes were sent to our troops over seas who were in desperate need of warm socks. L. Cpl. Adam J. Sanchez’s platoon also appreciates the many other items we included that were collected at the club’s annual December potluck. Thank you for donating! Everyone has ideas about how to make our club, neighorhood, and city a better place. Record those ideas easily with the new Idea Wall on the right side of this website. Then, neighbors will have a chance to comment and find others willing to help make it happen! |
